We are the first and only brand to combine clean clinicals with wild plants hand-harvested in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in skincare formulas. As the story goes, moving from New York to Jackson Hole  to run a retail beauty business totally uprooted everything I knew from a career in clinical skincare. Even the most potent clinical actives on their own were no match for the climate conditions skin deals with at high altitude. I knew I had to find a solution to help not only my own skin but also the people living in this community. But the combination of wild plants and potent actives is. That’s the story of Alpyn.

Jackson Hole wild plants that have thrived for thousands of years in spite of harsh dry weather are at the heart of all of our formulas. These survivors know how to bank hydration and concentrate nutrients so the harsher it is, the harder they fight and the more beautiful they get. We work with local botanists, naturalists, and farmers to identify the plants with the most power to hydrate and stabilize skin’s moisture barrier. We cultivate them at peak potency and craft them in as raw a form as possible, adding targeted clinical ingredients to amplify benefits and solve specific problems.

Insight provided by Kendra Butler, Founder

What are your key business initiatives for 2024?

Sephora shelf expansions, launching two new retailers (including international), and a rebrand (new logo, new packaging design) that will roll out in the fall.

What are you most proud of having accomplished?

Being one of the fastest growing brands in Sephora's Next Big Thing Wall, Two Allure Best of Beauty Awards, and helping to rewild over 1,000 acres of grassland in the Grand Teton National Park through our 1% for the planet initiative and National Park Restoration efforts.

What has been the biggest surprise?

How incredibly supportive and loyal our community of brand enthusiasts have been throughout this ride.

What fuels your competitive advantage?

Our Jackson Hole roots (literally and figuratively), a proprietary ingredient complex of clean clinicals and wild plants in our formulas, and working to restore the environment with every product purchase.

"If you have a unique concept that you think could disrupt/change the industry and have proof that it works, believe in yourself and work as hard as you can to bring it to market. Ignore those who are a distraction or discourage you."

Please share your insight on the future of the beauty industry.

I think ingredient sourcing and transparency will become key as the consumer continues to evolve and educate themselves about what they are putting on their skin.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Always give to others with an open hand so you are also able to receive.

What is the best mistake you've ever made?

When I first moved to Jackson Hole, I opened two beauty stores that were a financial disaster, however, those stores were the catalyst that inspired me to find a way to make skincare that would work for the dry skin in my community. In turn, that curiosity led me to the wild plants that thrived in the same harsh climate, and voila, Alpyn Beauty was born!

Paying it forward, what advice would you give to someone contemplating launching a beauty brand?

If you have a unique concept that you think could disrupt/change the industry and have proof that it works, believe in yourself and work as hard as you can to bring it to market. Ignore those who are a distraction or discourage you.

If you could change one thing in the beauty industry what would it be?
I would like to see more brands make a contribution to support environmental causes.
